Temporary General Staff Accountant (Hartford, CT Area)

Position Summary

The Temporary General Staff Accountant will support the accounting department with daily accounting functions, journal entries, account reconciliations, and month-end close activities. This role is responsible for maintaining accurate financial records and assisting with the timely preparation of financial reports during a temporary assignment.

Key Responsibilities

• Prepare and post journal entries, including accruals, prepaid expenses, and other adjusting entries.
• Assist with month-end and year-end close processes.
• Reconcile general ledger accounts and research discrepancies.
• Maintain supporting schedules and documentation for balance sheet accounts.
• Analyze account activity and investigate variances.
• Support the preparation of monthly financial reports.
• Ensure financial transactions are recorded accurately and in accordance with company policies.
• Assist with audit requests and provide supporting documentation as needed.
• Collaborate with accounting team members to meet reporting deadlines.
• Perform other accounting and finance-related duties as assigned.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
• 2+ years of general accounting experience preferred.
• Experience with journal entries, account reconciliations, and month-end close.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and accounting software/ERP systems.
• Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
• Ability to work independently and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
• Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
